Xiaoyi Xu

Xiaoyi Xu, born in Guangzhou, China, hailed as “The rising star of new born generation of pianists” had received her musical training and degrees in piano performance in Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, The Juilliard School, and Yale School of music. She’s now a Doctoral candidate of Indiana University Jacob school of music. Important teachers of her include Eleanor Wong, Hung-kuan Chen, Jinsong Xian, Roberto Plano and Jean-Louis Haguenauer. Xiaoyi Xu is the winner of international and national piano competitions including Panama International Piano Competition, “Wiesbadener” International Piano Competition, London Classical international music Competition, “Carl Czerny” International piano competition, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music concerto competition. She had been awarded scholarships including YAMAHA Asian Scholarship, Joseph Louis Spencer and Zylpha Allen Spencer Scholarship, Arthur Gold and Robert Fizdale scholarship. As a soloist, she toured over countries and has performed in important venues including Carnegie Weill Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall, City Hall of Wiesbadener and Teatro Nacional in Panama City. She also made appearances in music festivals including Aspen Music festival, Walnut Hill Piano festival, International Keyboard Institute and Festival, Le French May Arts Festival, and Premier Performances of HongKong. As a young artist, she had successfully organized the “Steinway & Sons music festival—— series of overseas Chinese pianists ” under the support of Guangzhou Steinway & Sons in 2017 . The event includes concerts, lectures, masterclasses and interview session. Xiaoyi Xu had also explored in composing and had performed her own work in her recital in Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangzhou, China in 2017. Besides being a musician, she is also interested in literature and psychology.
